Zoom Features Off by Default
To protect student privacy and security, some features by default are turned off in your Zoom account. Features are either:
Off By Default - the feature can still be enabled by the instructor/host. Examples:
- Sharing a Whiteboard
- Annotating a Whiteboard or Screen
- Nonverbal Feedback to Communicate
Off and Locked - the feature cannot be enabled under any circumstances. Examples:
- File Sharing
- Automatically recording meetings upon launch
If you would like to use any of the "Off By Default" features mentioned above during your Zoom meetings, you can enable them at the account level.
Enable Features via Your Zoom Account
- To access your Zoom account, sign in via the UCLA Zoom site using your UCLA Logon ID associated with your UCLA email address (.ucla.edu or g.ucla.edu).

- Scroll through the list of features and turn on anything that you would like to utilize by clicking the grey icon to the right of the feature. It will turn blue when enabled.
