Activate Your Zoom Account for Canvas

UCLA Email Account

IMPORTANT: In order to use Zoom via Canvas:

  • You must have a UCLA Logon ID (email account ending in ucla.edu). Create a UCLA Login ID or recover access to an existing account at https://accounts.iam.ucla.edu.
  • Your UCLA Logon ID must be associated with your UCLA email, not a personal email address. Access your UCLA Logon ID to confirm. If needed, contact support@unexonline.zendesk.com to update your UCLA Logon ID email address to your ucla.edu account.
  • You should be using your UCLA email to log into Canvas. 

 

Which scenario matches your current situation?

"I DO Have a UCLA email and I am using that email to log into Canvas."

  • If your UCLA Logon ID is set to your UCLA email, you should be able to schedule meetings via the Zoom of your course(s) in Canvas.
  • Reach out to IDLS (support@unexonline.zendesk.com) for assistance.

"I Do Have a UCLA email, but I am NOT using that email to log into Canvas."

  • Reach out to your Program Representative and IDLS (support@unexonline.zendesk.com) to add your UCLA email address as your preferred email address in our record system, Destiny. This email address will become your new Canvas login within 2-4 hours after your Program Representative updates our system. Your Canvas login password will remain the same.

"I Do NOT Have a UCLA email."

  • Create your UCLA email account at https://accounts.iam.ucla.edu.
  • Reach out to your Program Representative and IDLS (support@unexonline.zendesk.com) to add your UCLA email address as your preferred email address in our record system, Destiny. This email address will become your new Canvas login within 2-4 hours after your Program Representative updates our system. Your Canvas login password will remain the same.
  • Once the steps above are completed, your Program Representative will reach out to IDLS to get Zoom added to your Canvas course.

 

Activate Zoom for Canvas

You will be using Zoom directly within your Canvas course. To activate Zoom for use in your Canvas course:

  1. Click “Zoom” in your course navigation menu.
  2. When prompted, click the blue “Authorize” button.

  1. You should now see the Zoom Meeting area within your Canvas course.
