Panopto allows you to add quizzes to your recorded videos. During video playback, the video pauses at quiz points, prompting learners to complete the quiz before proceeding. Simply add quizzes at specific points along your video timeline to utilize this feature.
Quizzes can be used as knowledge checks. You can view quiz results by user, section, or overall results.
Complete the following steps to add interactive quizzes to your Panopto videos.

Edit Your Video Quiz
Panopto simplifies making adjustments to quizzes, including modifying quiz settings, options, or placement within the video. However, it's crucial to be aware of how edits can impact your quiz results:
- Changes to quiz settings like the ability to retake or view scores will not clear quiz results.
- Changes to quiz questions, such as answers, wording, or order, will clear previously recorded quiz results.
Step One: Edit the Quiz
- In the course navigation menu, click Videos.
- Hover over the video that you want to edit, and click the three dots.
- From the drop-down menu, select Edit (pencil icon).
- From the Panopto menu on the left hand side, select Quizzes.
- Select the quiz you want to edit by clicking on it.
You will see the same quiz window where you created the quiz.
- You can change the quiz question or add questions to your quiz. You can change any of the parameters in this window pane in the same manner as you created it.
Please Note: Be careful when changing the question type. If you change a multiple choice or multiple select question to a true or false question or fill in the blank, your answers for the multiple choice or multiple select will be erased and you will need to type them back in. This action cannot be undone.
- When you are finished, click Done.
Step Two: Adjust the Quiz Settings
Once the quiz has been edited and you click Done, another window will appear with options for adjusting your quiz settings.
- To change where the quiz appears in the timeline, click to adjust the Quiz Position.
- To retain only a student’s most recent score, enable Allow viewers to retake the Quiz.
- To show a student’s grade only after the completion of the quiz, enable Show grade after taking this quiz. You can also enable the Allow review of correct answers and explanations option.
- To stop students from moving forward in the video unless they have completed the quiz, enable Block advancing in the video until answering this quiz.
- To delete questions, click the X.
- To reorganize questions, use the arrows.
- To go back to your quiz, click Back.
- Once you are finished, select Finish to confirm your settings. The name of your quiz will now appear in the Quizzing pane.
- Repeat these steps for each quiz you want to add to your video.
- When you are finished adding quizzes to the video, select Apply at the top right corner of the page.
