New Analytics is a feature in Canvas that gathers student data to help you evaluate your course and cohort. You can see how many times students have viewed a page, participated in discussions, and submitted work. You can also view data related to student success rates on assignments.
New Analytics can provide data at the course level or student level.
At the course level, you can use this data to revise and improve your course materials. At the student level, you can use this data to help identify students who are not succeeding and provide targeted interventions.
To access New Analytics:
- In the course navigation menu, click Home.
- On the right side of the page, click New Analytics. The New Analytics area opens with the Course Grade tab displayed. (Note that if you have a small browser window, the New Analytics button may appear at the bottom of the page instead.)
- From the top of the page, click the data tab you want to review:
- Course Grade displays students' scores on graded assignments, discussions, and quizzes in your course.
- Weekly Online Activity shows the number of pages students have viewed each week in your course and the number of views each page in your course has received.
- Students shows detailed activity for each student, including how frequently they submit assignments on time and the number of times they have viewed pages in your course.
- Reports allows you to download student activity data in a spreadsheet format.
- To send a message to students who meet certain criteria, such as their overall grade in the course or whether they have late or missing assignments, click the envelope icon.
