The Course Home Page is what students first see when they enter your course. By default, Canvas sets the activity stream — a list that includes announcements, discussion activity, and more — as the course home page; however, you can create a custom Canvas page and set it as your course home page instead.
To change the home page to a custom page, click the tabs below and review each step.
Step One: Set a Page as the Front Page
There are two options for setting a page as a Front Page:
Option One: From Pages
- In the course navigation menu, click Pages.
- To view a list of all course pages if they are not shown, click View All Pages above the page title.
- Locate the page that you would like to set as your Front Page. Please note that only a published page can be set as a Front Page.
- Click Options (three vertical dots) to the right of the page's title.
- From the Options drop-down menu, select Use as Front Page.
A grey Front Page label appears under the title of a page to indicate that it has been set as a course's Front Page.
Option Two: From an Individual Page
- Access the individual page that you would like to set as your Front Page.
- Click Options (three vertical dots) at the top right, then select Use as Front Page.
A grey Front Page icon appears at the top of the page.
Step Two: Set the Course Home Page
- In the Home page sidebar to the right, click Choose Home Page.
- In the Choose Course Home Page window that appears, select Pages Front Page.
- Click Save.
