Canvas gives you the ability to duplicate (copy) a page and the contents within that page. Duplication allows you to create a copy of a page that can be revised without impacting the original page. When a page is duplicated:
- The copied page defaults to an unpublished state.
- The word "Copy" is added to the end of the page title.
- All items within the page are copied, including the page title, content, and formatting styles.
To explore two ways to duplicate a page in Canvas, click each tab below.
Option One: Duplicate via Pages
- In the course navigation menu, click Pages.
- Locate the module page you want to duplicate and click Options (three vertical dots) to the right of the page title.
- From the Options drop-down menu, select Duplicate.
The duplicated page appears directly under the original page within the module.
- The page title is appended with the word "Copy."
- The page is unpublished.
You can now revise, publish, and add the copied page to Modules to make it visible to students.
Option Two: Duplicate via Modules
- From the course navigation menu, click Modules.
- Locate the module page you want to duplicate and click Options (three vertical dots) on the right of the page title.
- From the Options drop-down menu, select Duplicate.
The duplicated page appears directly under the original page within the module.

You can now revise, move, and publish the copied page within Modules to make it visible to students.
