The Pages area of Canvas lists all pages in a course. A page allows you to create content for a Canvas course. A single page can hold text, images, media, and links to course-related resources. Always add new pages directly in the Modules area so that your students can access them.
To review the two-step process for adding a page to your Canvas course, click the tabs below.
Step One: Add the Page
To add a page to a module:
- In the course navigation menu, click Modules.
- To add a page to a specific module, click the Add Item (plus sign) to the right of the module title.
-
The Add Item to [Module Name] window appears. From the Add drop-down menu, select Page.
- Select [ New Page ] and type a title for the page in the Page Name field. In this example, we are naming the page "Week One Overview."
- Click Add Item.
Note: you can select an existing page from the list rather than creating a new page.
The page is now added to the bottom of the module and appears in an unpublished state.
Step Two: Edit the Page
To edit your newly created page:
- Click directly on the page title to open the page.
- From the top right corner of the page, click Edit.
- Edit the page using the Rich Content Editor. This allows you to:
- Add and format text.
- Insert tables and equations.
- Insert links, images, media, and documents.
- Record and embed videos using Panopto.
- When you are done editing the page, click Save & Publish to make it visible to your students.
