Change Your Canvas Password

Canvas gives you the ability to change your password once you have logged in. Before changing your password, consider the following guidelines: 

  • Use at least eight characters.
  • Use a random mixture of characters, uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • Avoid using a common word found in a dictionary.

To change your Canvas password:

  1. In the global navigation menu, click Account, then Settings. A page with your Canvas account settings will open.

  1. Click Edit Settings on the right side of the page. Your account settings will become editable fields.

  1. Select the Change Password box at the bottom of the page. Fields for entering a new password will be displayed.

  1. Fill in the Old Password, New Password, and Confirm Password fields.
  2. Click Update Settings.

Please note that if you can't remember your old password, you should reset your password through a link provided in a password request email Canvas sends to you.
