Record Meeting to the Cloud
When you record your Zoom meetings directly online (i.e., to the cloud), the recordings are available to students in the Videos area of your Canvas course a short while after your meeting has ended.
To record your meeting to the cloud, click the tabs below and follow each step.
Step One: Record Your Meeting (Cloud)
- In your Canvas course, start a Zoom meeting as the host.
- In the Zoom meeting controls menu, click Record.
- Select Record to the Cloud.
Your meeting is now being recorded. A Recording Notification window will appear for your participants.
While the recording is active, the Recording... indicator will appear at the top-left side of the Zoom meeting window. Participants who dial into the meeting by phone will hear a message stating that the meeting is being recorded.
- In the Zoom menu at the bottom of the screen, click the Pause/Stop Recording icons to pause or stop the recording at any time.
When recording has stopped, you will see the Meeting recording has stopped message.
Step Two: Access Your Recorded File (in Canvas)
To access the recording in your Canvas course after the meeting has ended:
- In the course navigation menu, click Zoom.
- Click the Cloud Recordings tab. (Note that students do not have access to this tab.)
- To view video and audio files for a meeting you've recorded to the cloud, click the meeting title in the Topic column.
After a few minutes, the recording will also automatically become available in the Videos area of your Canvas course. Students can access the recording from Videos for the duration of the course. Once the recording is imported to the Videos of Canvas, it is removed from the Cloud Recordings tab.
